Tallahassee Community College (TCC) offers both Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs that provide students with comprehensive education and training to pursue careers in the dental field.

The Dental Assisting program is a one-year certificate program that covers a wide range of topics such as dental anatomy, radiography, infection control, and dental materials. Students also gain practical experience by completing a clinical rotation in a dental office. The program is designed to prepare graduates to take the Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) exam and become licensed dental assistants.

The Dental Hygiene program is a two-year associate degree program that provides students with a strong foundation in the theory and practice of dental hygiene. The curriculum includes courses in dental radiography, oral pathology, periodontics, and community dental health. Students also gain hands-on experience through clinical rotations in a variety of settings, including dental clinics, hospitals, and community health centers. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination and become licensed dental hygienists.

Both programs at TCC are accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), which ensures that the programs meet the highest standards of education and training in the dental field. In addition, TCC’s dental programs offer small class sizes, individual attention from experienced faculty, and state-of-the-art facilities that provide students with a modern learning environment.

Overall, TCC’s Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs are excellent options for students who are interested in pursuing careers in the dental field. Graduates of these programs are well-prepared to enter the workforce and make a positive impact on the oral health of their communities.
