South Florida State College
South Florida State College (SFSC) offers both a dental assisting program and a dental hygiene program. These programs are designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in the dental field.
The dental assisting program at SFSC is a one-year program that consists of both classroom and hands-on clinical experience. Students will learn about dental anatomy, dental procedures, radiography, infection control, and dental materials. They will also have the opportunity to gain practical experience by working in a clinical setting under the supervision of licensed dental professionals.
The dental hygiene program at SFSC is a two-year program that prepares students to become licensed dental hygienists. Students will learn about dental anatomy and physiology, oral pathology, periodontics, and radiography. They will also have the opportunity to gain practical experience by working in a clinical setting under the supervision of licensed dental professionals.
Both programs at SFSC are accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and offer students the opportunity to become certified in their respective fields. The dental assisting program prepares students to take the Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) exam, while the dental hygiene program prepares students to take the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE) and the Florida State Board of Dentistry Examination.
In addition to the dental assisting and dental hygiene programs, SFSC also offers a variety of continuing education courses for dental professionals. These courses provide dental professionals with the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills in a variety of areas, including dental radiography, infection control, and dental materials.
Overall, South Florida State College’s dental assisting and dental hygiene programs are designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in the dental field. With a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience, graduates of these programs will be well-prepared to begin their careers in the dental industry.
