Sacramento City College offers both dental assisting and dental hygiene programs for students interested in pursuing careers in the dental field.

The dental assisting program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions as dental assistants. The program consists of both classroom instruction and hands-on training in a dental office setting. Students learn about dental anatomy, radiography, infection control, chairside assisting, and dental office management. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) examination and become licensed dental assistants in the state of California.

The dental hygiene program is designed to prepare students for careers as licensed dental hygienists. The program consists of both classroom instruction and clinical practice in a dental office setting. Students learn about dental hygiene theory, dental anatomy and pathology, oral health promotion, and patient care. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination and become licensed dental hygienists in the state of California.

Both programs are accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), which ensures that the programs meet national standards for dental education. The programs also offer opportunities for students to participate in community service events and gain experience working with diverse patient populations.
