Pima Community College offers dental assisting and dental hygiene programs designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become successful dental professionals. These programs provide hands-on experience and instruction from experienced faculty members.
The Dental Assisting Program prepares students for entry-level positions in dental offices, clinics, and hospitals. Students learn how to assist dentists with procedures, take x-rays, and perform other administrative and clinical duties. The program also includes courses in dental anatomy, oral pathology, and dental materials. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) exam, which is required for certification in many states.
The Dental Hygiene Program is a comprehensive program that trains students to become licensed dental hygienists. The program includes courses in dental anatomy and physiology, periodontics, radiology, and pharmacology, among others. Students receive hands-on training in the college’s state-of-the-art dental hygiene clinic, where they gain experience working with patients. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination, which is required for licensure in most states.
