Palm Beach State College offers programs in dental assisting and dental hygiene for students interested in pursuing a career in dental healthcare.

The dental assisting program is a one-year certificate program that provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to work as dental assistants. Students learn about dental anatomy and terminology, dental materials and procedures, infection control, radiography, and patient communication. The program also includes hands-on training in a clinical setting, where students work with real patients under the supervision of licensed dental professionals.

The dental hygiene program is a two-year associate degree program that prepares students to become licensed dental hygienists. In addition to the courses offered in the dental assisting program, students in the dental hygiene program also learn about oral health assessment, periodontal therapy, pharmacology, and community oral health. Students gain practical experience through a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory work, and clinical rotations in various dental settings.

Both programs at Palm Beach State College are accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and meet the educational requirements for licensure in the state of Florida. Graduates of these programs are well-prepared to take the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination and the Florida Dental Assisting Examination, respectively.

Palm Beach State College’s dental assisting and dental hygiene programs offer students an affordable and convenient way to start a career in dental healthcare. With experienced faculty, modern facilities, and a focus on hands-on learning, these programs provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their chosen profession.
