Orange Coast College (OCC) offers a dental assisting program that provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become valuable members of a dental team. This program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions as dental assistants in various dental offices.

The OCC dental assisting program is a two-semester program that requires a total of 28 units to complete. The program includes both classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience. During the program, students will learn about dental anatomy, oral pathology, dental materials, dental radiography, infection control, and dental office management.

In addition to classroom instruction, students will also gain practical experience by working in a dental office. The program provides students with opportunities to work with dental professionals, interact with patients, and practice their skills in a real-world setting.

Graduates of the OCC dental assisting program are prepared to take the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) examination and become Certified Dental Assistants (CDAs). CDAs are recognized nationally as competent dental assistants who have met the requirements set forth by the DANB.
