Midwest Technical Institute – Springfield
Midwest Technical Institute’s Dental Assistant program at the Springfield campus is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to become a valuable member of a dental healthcare team. The program can be completed in just nine months and is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
The Dental Assistant program at MTI-Springfield covers a wide range of topics, including dental anatomy and terminology, infection control, dental radiography, dental materials, and chairside assisting. Students will also learn about dental specialties such as orthodontics, periodontics, and endodontics.
Throughout the program, students will receive hands-on training in a simulated dental office. This training includes practicing various dental procedures, taking and developing dental X-rays, and performing administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and maintaining patient records.

This externship allows students to apply their knowledge and skills in a professional setting while working alongside experienced dental professionals.
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to sit for the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) certification exam, which is a requirement in some states for dental assisting positions. Graduates may also pursue entry-level positions as dental assistants in dental offices, clinics, and hospitals.
