Illinois Valley Community College

The dental assisting program at Illinois Valley Community College is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in a variety of dental settings. The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and consists of both classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience.

Students in the program learn about dental anatomy, pharmacology, dental radiography, dental materials, infection control, and dental office management. They also receive training in clinical skills such as taking impressions, placing dental fillings, and assisting with dental procedures.

In addition to classroom instruction, students in the program complete a clinical rotation where they work alongside experienced dental professionals in a real-world dental setting. This allows students to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in the classroom to real-life situations and gain valuable hands-on experience.

Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) exam to become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA). Graduates of the program are also eligible to apply for state licensure as dental assistants in Illinois.
