Delaware County Technical High School

The Delaware County Technical High School (DCTHS) offers a Dental Assistant Program for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the field of dentistry. The program provides a comprehensive education in dental theory, laboratory skills, and clinical experience that prepares students for entry-level employment in the dental field.

The Dental Assistant Program at DCTHS is designed to meet the standards set by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). The program includes courses in dental anatomy and physiology, dental radiology, dental materials, dental office procedures, and infection control. Students also gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting through the program’s externship component.

Throughout the program, students learn the technical skills required to assist dentists and dental hygienists in a variety of dental procedures. They also learn how to take and process dental x-rays, maintain dental records, and provide patient education on oral hygiene and preventative care.

The program at DCTHS is a two-year program that leads to a diploma in Dental Assisting. Students who complete the program are eligible to take the National Board Dental Assisting Examination (NBDHE) and become Certified Dental Assistants (CDAs).
