Cypress College
Cypress College offers both Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs for students interested in pursuing a career in the dental field.
The Dental Assisting program prepares students for entry-level positions in dental offices, clinics, and other dental settings. Students learn to assist dentists and dental hygienists in various procedures, perform administrative tasks, and communicate with patients. The program includes hands-on training in a simulated dental office setting and provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the Registered Dental Assisting (RDA) exam.
The Dental Hygiene program is designed for students who want to become licensed dental hygienists. The program provides students with a comprehensive education in dental hygiene, including dental anatomy, radiology, periodontology, and oral pathology. Students also gain hands-on experience in clinical settings, providing preventive and therapeutic dental care to patients under the supervision of licensed dental professionals. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination and become licensed dental hygienists.
Both programs at Cypress College are accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), ensuring that students receive a high-quality education that meets national standards. The programs also provide opportunities for students to participate in community outreach programs, which allows them to gain practical experience while giving back to the community.
In summary, the Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs at Cypress College provide students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to succeed in the dental field. With accreditation and community outreach opportunities, students are well-prepared for entry-level positions or further education in the field.
