The Dental Assistant program at Chesterfield Technical Center is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become competent dental assistants. The program is a part of the Virginia Department of Education’s Career and Technical Education program, which is focused on preparing students for careers in various technical fields.

The program is a two-year course of study that combines classroom instruction with hands-on training in a clinical setting. Students learn the fundamentals of dental assisting, including dental terminology, anatomy, infection control, patient care, dental materials, and basic dental procedures.

In addition to the classroom instruction, students participate in a clinical rotation where they work in a dental office and gain practical experience. This allows students to apply the knowledge they have learned in the classroom and develop the skills necessary to work as a dental assistant.

The program also prepares students to take the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) certification exam, which is required in many states for dental assistants. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the DANB exam to become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA).

Overall, the Dental Assistant program at Chesterfield Technical Center is an excellent option for students interested in pursuing a career in dental assisting. The program provides students with a strong foundation in the fundamentals of dental assisting and practical experience in a clinical setting, preparing them for a successful career in the field.
