American Institute – West Hartford

The Dental Assistant program at the American Institute in West Hartford is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become entry-level dental assistants. The program is offered in a hybrid format, which includes both on-campus and online coursework.

The program curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including dental anatomy and terminology, dental radiology, infection control, dental materials and equipment, dental office management, and clinical procedures. Students will also have the opportunity to gain practical experience through a clinical externship at a dental office.

The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and prepares students to sit for the national certification exam administered by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). Graduates of the program are eligible to apply for certification as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) and also have the option to pursue additional certifications in specialties such as orthodontics and pediatric dentistry.
