Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) offers a comprehensive dental assisting program that prepares students for a career in dental health. The program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to assist dentists in a variety of tasks, including patient care, laboratory procedures, and administrative duties.
The dental assisting program at SFCC consists of both classroom and clinical instruction. Students learn about dental anatomy and terminology, infection control, dental radiology, and dental materials. In addition, students gain hands-on experience by participating in clinical rotations at local dental offices.
Upon completion of the dental assisting program, students are eligible to sit for the Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) exam. The CDA credential is recognized nationwide and demonstrates a high level of competency in dental assisting.
