Northeast Iowa Community College
Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) offers a dental assisting program that prepares students for a career in the field of dental healthcare. The program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to assist dentists and dental hygienists in a variety of clinical settings.
The program includes both classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience, with a focus on teaching students the basic principles of dental anatomy, dental terminology, and dental radiography. Students also learn how to perform chairside assisting procedures, take dental impressions, and sterilize dental equipment.
The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), which ensures that students receive a high-quality education that meets industry standards. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the national certification examination to become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA).
NICC’s dental assisting program also offers a variety of clinical experiences that allow students to work in a variety of settings, including private dental practices, public health clinics, and dental laboratories. These experiences provide students with valuable hands-on training and help prepare them for their future careers.
