The Dental Assisting program is designed to prepare students to assist dentists in all aspects of patient care. Students will learn about dental anatomy, infection control, radiology, and dental materials, as well as how to perform administrative duties in a dental office. The program includes classroom instruction, laboratory work, and clinical experience, where students work with real patients under the supervision of licensed dentists and dental hygienists. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) exam to become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA).
The Dental Hygiene program at PPCC is a two-year program that prepares students to become licensed dental hygienists. Students learn about dental anatomy, radiology, pharmacology, periodontics, and community dental health, as well as hands-on training in clinical skills such as teeth cleaning, fluoride treatment, and periodontal therapy. The program also includes general education courses in math, science, and English. After completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination and state or regional clinical board exams to become licensed dental hygienists.
Both programs at PPCC offer students the opportunity to gain real-world experience in the dental industry through clinical rotations at local dental offices and clinics. Students also have access to state-of-the-art dental equipment and technology in PPCC’s dental laboratory and clinic.
In addition to the quality education and hands-on training, PPCC’s Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs are affordable, with lower tuition rates than many other dental programs in the state. Financial aid is also available to eligible students.
Overall, PPCC’s Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs provide students with a solid foundation for a successful career in the dental industry. Graduates of these programs have a high success rate in obtaining jobs in their field and advancing their careers.
