Sussex Technical High School
Sussex Technical High School offers dental hygiene and dental assisting programs that provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in the field of dentistry.
The dental hygiene program prepares students to become licensed dental hygienists, who are responsible for performing teeth cleanings, administering fluoride treatments, taking X-rays, and educating patients on proper oral hygiene techniques. The program includes classroom instruction, hands-on training, and clinical experience in a dental office. Students learn about dental anatomy and physiology, periodontics, pharmacology, and dental materials, among other topics.
The dental assisting program, on the other hand, trains students to become dental assistants, who work alongside dentists and perform a variety of tasks, including preparing patients for procedures, taking impressions, and sterilizing equipment. The program covers topics such as dental anatomy and physiology, infection control, dental radiography, and dental materials. Students gain hands-on experience through clinical rotations in dental offices and clinics.
Both programs provide students with the opportunity to gain practical experience and develop skills that are highly valued in the dental industry. Upon completion of the programs, students can take certification exams and become licensed dental hygienists or dental assistants.
In addition to the dental hygiene and dental assisting programs, Sussex Technical High School offers a range of other career and technical education programs in fields such as cosmetology, culinary arts, and engineering. These programs are designed to help students develop the skills and knowledge needed to pursue careers in high-demand industries.
