Prince George's Community College
The Dental Assistant program at Prince George’s Community College is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become successful dental assistants. The program consists of both classroom instruction and hands-on training, allowing students to develop their clinical and administrative skills.
Throughout the program, students will learn about dental terminology, oral anatomy, infection control, dental radiography, dental materials, and chairside assisting techniques. In addition, students will receive training in dental office management, patient communication, and ethical and legal considerations in dentistry.
The program includes a clinical practicum where students will work in a dental office under the supervision of a licensed dentist. This allows students to gain practical experience in a real-world setting and apply the skills they have learned in the classroom.
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to take the Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) exam offered by the Dental Assisting National Board. This certification is recognized throughout the United States and demonstrates that the dental assistant has met national standards for knowledge and skills.
